The Royal Theatre has emerged as a focal point and oasis for creativity in Midtown St. Petersburg. It is a haven of self-expression, cultural identity & enrichment, and inspiration for local youth. Artistic talent - not financial wherewithal - is the common denominator among Royal students. It has been that way since the beginning, and to safeguard this founding principle we rely on the generous support of many like you. More than 150 students received scholarship support in 2007. They arrived from every corner of the City to pursue their artistic passions. Their experiences at the Royal Theatre will pay dividends throughout their lives. There are many reasons to donate to the Royal Theatre Arts Scholarship Fund. Here is one: Terrell, now age 18, steped into the Royal Theatre 3years ago. A high school drop out, gang affiliation, and gateway drug user, Terrell was looking for a way out of the tough inner-city streets. The Royal Theatre introduced him to his deferred dream; becoming a recording artist and music producer. Terrell entered into the Recording Arts Production (RAP) classes and stuck with it through a two year period, completing the advance curriculum certificate. Today, Terrell has completed his GED, dropped all negative influences and now teaches the RAP class to beginning and intermediate level students. He is a LIVING HERO to all his students and peers. With the team effort of other advance students in the RAP program, he now sits as CEO of Midtown Records a youth driven entrepreneurial initiative into the recording industry. These young people will make an impact on the world.
